Mr. Lucas Lee Famini

Lucas Lee Famini was born at 7:53PM on Saturday November 8th.  He weighed in at 7lb 3oz and is 21 in. long.

Instantly a few things happened:
- There was a new title holder of "Cutest Baby in the World"
- dog-parents turned into Parents
- parents turned Grandparents and
- grandparents turned into Great-Grandparents!

After a nice family bonding moment between little Lucas, Amy and I (we'll call that the inaugural Famini Summit if you will), the family members that had spent their Saturday hanging out and playing with our little Sanchini nieces made their way in to meet the newest member of the clan.  Hugs were shared.  Tears were cried.  Smiles were beamed.

Lucas was measured and tested and cleaned and found to be in tip-top shape, even if he was a bit scrawnier than we expected a 41.2 week Famini baby to be.

His little conehead may have been gigantic, but we were assured that he would be able to fit into normal-size hats at some point.  Yay baby!

Anticipation

Late late late!  In fact, it was decided that the little guy was late enough to be induced into the world.  The eviction was posted and we were scheduled to go into Oakland Friday evening.  However, when we called to make sure there was room, Oakland told us they were too full!  What!  Eviction notices are like law, there is no going back.  Luckily the nurses in Oakland called around to all the Kaisers in the Bay Area looking for someone to take Amy in.  Hayward: No.  San Rafael: No.  SF: No.  Santa Rosa: No.  Walnut Creek:  Maybe.  Then... YES!  So we hurried out to Walnut Creek at 9PM Friday night to get things started.  Amy was feeling the nerves as we left the parking lot:

Once inside Amy was set up in a very large room and after a couple hours of getting set up, the the magic began to happen.  Amy was very calm at first:

Magic continued to happen throughout Saturday afternoon.  Family members took over the waiting room eager to meet the little guy.  The birth room was also full of supporters - Amys mom with her midwife and motherly expertise, Sister Sara, Sister-in-Law Stephanie, Me (hubby Chris) and Amy's dad David.  The nurses and midwives that helped out were all super nice and helpful, especially RN Lois and Midwife Sarah.  Yada yada yada, there was a baby!

We're waiting...

As we continue to wait for the little man to show his head (due date +5 is about over), I thought I'd show you his room.

Here you see the comfy rocker/glider, some afternoon light and and our hospital bags waiting in the bassinet.

This corner has the changing table, crib and an open slot on the wall for his name in letters

Finally here you see some stuffies, the sweet garbage can I got (Happy Valley Brand PURE LARD) and Tank holding it all down

Still no baby?

Due date +1 was Halloween! And no baby! Tank relished being the center of attention and wowed everyone with his acting ability. This looks exactly like a hot dog keeping track of the kids outside:

No baby yet?

We went to the beach last weekend to get Amy out of the house. Despite the fog, it was actually pretty warm and a good time for all of us, especially Mr. Howler aka Tank. He was spitting game at a number of lady-friends

Muir Beach in Marin has some cool rocks

Amy (the baby in her belly) and Tank enjoy a walk

Tank and I went for a sprint.  We are insanely athletic
